After a brief pause in FAU coaching news, the Owls announced on Monday afternoon that Aditya (AD) Malhotra, formerly of the Phoenix Suns, would be joining John Jakus’s staff as an Assistant Coach.
FAU went back into the transfer portal to fill their final scholarship, as late Sunday afternoon Ken Evans Jr, a 6 ‘5 G from Jackson State announced via his personal Instagram that he would be transferring to FAU, filling the open spot left by Aj Staton-McCray.
FAU has worked diligently over the past couple of weeks to assemble a complete roster, and that came to fruition Tuesday, as FSU transfer F Baba Miller withdrew his name from NBA draft consideration and committed to playing this upcoming season in Boca Raton.
FAU Men’s Basketball made their first roster move in 9 days on Sunday morning, as the Owls went back overseas, landing a commit from 7 ‘1 Lithuanian Center Matas Vokietaitis.The 19 year old played for Zalgiris Kaunas in the Lithuanian basketball league, mainly for their second affiliate team, where he averaged 12.5 points 8.6 rebounds and 0.8 Assists across 41 games this past season, while also making 1 appearance for their main team.
After back-to-back international recruits, FAU has gone back stateside and into the transfer portal, landing Jacksonville St. Transfer Dekeyvan “KyKy” Tandy.
News broke on Monday afternoon, that FAU landed their second international recruit in 72 hours as Jon Rothstein reported on Twitter that German Native Max Langenfeld, a 6’6 G/F would be committing to FAU.
John Jakus and his staff’s international recruiting skills are officially on display as on Saturday evening the Owls received a commitment from Amar Amkou Diop, a 6’7 guard out of Senegal, Africa.
On Thursday afternoon FAU announced another addition to the Men’s Basketball coaching staff. Adding to the Baylor connections, former Bears G Obim Okeke is joining the squad as a Special Assistant to the HC, coming over to the Owls after 1 season as a Video Analysis associate with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
