2024 FAU Lady Owls Finished with an Incredible 41-16 Record
FAU Softball (41-16) lost a tough one Saturday evening 3-2 to FGCU (38-20), which brought an end to their 2024 campaign. The Owls were able to grab a 1-0 lead early in this ballgame and held that lead deep into the 6th inning, however a late FGCU rally was too much to overcome in this one for FAU, and with that brought an end to the Owls NCAA regional run after just 2 games.

FAU battled hard in their first regional matchup since 2016, sending out Gabby Sacco to the circle who matched Olivia Lackie pitch for pitch in the early innings. Unfortunately for the Owls, the hitting never broke through, eventually falling to South Alabama 1-0, who were helped by a complete game shutout from Lackie.
FAU Softball (41-14) is set to play in their first regional matchup since 2016, on Friday at 2:30 against South Alabama (32-18-1) from Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on the campus of the University of Florida.
The Owls secured an At-Large bid in the tournament following a 41-14 (21-6 AAC) regular season and a regular season AAC championship! FAU was one of the hottest teams in the nation, led by lights out pitching and flashy hitting. Throughout the season, FAU showed they can do it all, earning their place among the ranks of college softball’s best.
Texas received the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship when the selection committee revealed its 64-team field on Sunday. Right behind Texas (47-7) is rival Oklahoma, the three-time reigning champion, as the No. 2 seed.
After an 8-1 record to finish off the season, the FAU Owls were soaring with momentum heading into the semi-finals round of the AAC tournament against Wichita State, but unfortunately for the Owls they got shocked by a shockers squad who is playing with a whole different level of momentum.
Softball postseason action will commence for FAU Friday afternoon, as following the double bye the Owls will be back in action and taking on Wichita State at 3:30 pm est, with a spot in the AAC championship on the line. FAU is fresh off their best regular season since 2016, finishing with a 41-13 record, and although Wichita State finished 27-21 on the year, they are peaking at the right time, as they are currently on a 6-game win streak dating back to 4/27 against UNT.
