Charleston’s newest residents FAU Men’s basketball just wrapped up the field of 68 tournament a few days ago and now they embark on the Shriners Children’s classic; a 3 game Multi-Team Event which will feature multiple pivotal matchups.
Rather than hitting the beach with 4 days off in Charleston, FAU coach John Jakus met with the media on Monday afternoon while speaking a variety of topics as his team prepares for the Charleston Classic.
After a heartbreaking double OT loss to Charleston less than 24 hours ago, FAU matched up with Liberty and the Owls fought back from down 12 in the first half, ultimately forcing overtime once again and going on to win 77–74.
The epitome of brutality struck FAU once again on Friday night. as Ante Brzovic hit a long range triple with 0’s on the clock, which capped off his 39 point night, leading Charleston to a 119-116 victory over the Owls in double overtime.
FAU heads into the Field of 68 tournament off their first loss of the season and will face back to back matchups against Liberty and Charleston on Friday and Saturday night.
The first test of the season for FAU occurred on Tuesday night as the Owls squared off with UCF and although they ultimately fell short, losing 100-94, a lot was learned about this FAU squad.
FAU Coach John Jakus spoke to the media Tuesday afternoon, speaking on a variety of topics before the team heads to Orlando for a road tilt with UCF.
