Photo Finish In NASCAR Cup Series Down In Atlanta
The NASCAR Cup series just held a phenomenal event down in Atlanta, Georgia this past weekend. In Sunday’s Ambetter Health 400 NASCAR Cup Series race, we watched a three-wide photo finish that saw the victory emerge victorious by less than half a second.
Trackhouse’s own Daniel Suarez was able to narrowly defeat Ryan Blaney by what appeared to be just an inch. After further review, it was determined that Suarez defeated Blaney by 0.003 seconds. If that wasn’t already unbelievably close, third place finisher Kyle Busch finished 0.007 seconds behind Suarez.
When talking about the huge win, Suarez said, “It was so damn close, man. It was so damn close. It was good racing. Ryan Blaney there, Kyle Busch, Austin Cindric also was doing a great job giving pushes. In the back straightaway, he didn’t push me because he knew I was going to (screw) his teammate, but, man, what a job.” He later continued by saying, “We wrecked Lap 2. The guys did an amazing job fixing this car. I can’t thank everyone enough, Trackhouse Racing, Freeway Insurance, Chevrolet, all the amazing fans here. Let’s go!”
Suarez Needed A Big NASCAR Victory To Start 2024
As we entered into this new 2024 cup season, there were a lot of rumors out there that Suarez could potentially be replaced at the end of the year if he didn’t perform. He was winless throughout 2023 and Trackhouse signed three development drivers during the offseason, fueling those rumors even further. Suarez was looking to make a statement early on, and he certainly did just that by winning his second-ever NASCAR Cup Series race.
The second-place finisher, Blaney, was the defending series champion. He was able to hold onto the top spot for four full laps before Suarez started to climb back up towards the end. Blaney had an opportunity to pull it out at the very end, but ultimately fell just barely short at the finish line.
The Cup Series is going to continue next weekend when they head down to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That race will be the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. It’ll take place on March 3rd and has the potential to be just as exhilarating as this one.
