Pulisic Continues Incredible Tenure at Milan

The greatest player to ever put on a United States Men’s National Team jersey, has been nothing short of spectacular when he arrived at Milan at the beginning of the 23/24 season.

Putting his impactful goal scoring aside, the courage and tenacity he’s played with is the perfect illustration that resembles club legends who wore the shirt before him.

Before his much needed move to Milan, Pulisic spent 4 years in England playing for Chelsea where he experienced many ups and downs.

The highs consist of raising the Champions League trophy at the club, and assisting the winning goal in the semi finals against the 15x UCL champions Real Madrid. The lows involve a series of injuries that resulted in being unable to find a consistent place on a competitive roster.

Pulisic’s last season at Chelsea was the lowest point in his career. He struggled to stay fit and could not find a consistent role as a starter, even being left off the matchday roster as a healthy scratch on multiple occasions.

He finished that season with 1 goal and 1 assist, while playing only 813 minutes the entire season. His lowest time spent on the pitch since his first season at Dortmund in the 15/16 season as a 17 year old youngster.

It was obvious that a change was needed, and it was imminent for Christian. During the 23/23 summer transfer window, Pulisic was purchased by the legendary Italian giant AC Milan. Many thought the fee of 22 euros was excessive, but in a very short time Pulisic proved that to be the opposite, becoming a fan favorite instantly.

In his first season in the red and black, Pulisic notched a career high 26 goal contributions including 15 goals. Doing this as a natural left winger playing on the right, Pulisics monster season was a shock to many.

Milan has struggled since winning the Scudetto in 2022. Their play in Serie A has not been to the usual Milan standard. Play in European competition has been poor as well, having failed to get out of the group stage 2 out of the past 3 UCL seasons.

With struggles still continuing under new manager Paulo Fonesco, Pulisic has been one of few bright spots in his arrival to Italy.

Pulisic has picked up right where he left off to begin his second season at Milan. He’s scored 4 goals while assisting another 2. Many questioned his ability to score against top competition. Doing what he consistently does, he scored the opener in Milan’s opening UCL match against English powerhouse Liverpool silencing the doubters.

Just 5 days later he scored another massive goal in Milan’s 2-1 victory against rival Inter.

Pulisic’s goal against Inter was crucial and creative enough to win the award for Milan’s Goal of The Month. The rest of his efforts throughout the first leg of the season earned him the award of Milan Player of the Month. Pulisic is also up for and the clear favorite to win Serie A player of the month.

Pulisic’s individual contributions are a significant reason Milan currently sit at 3rd in the Serie A table despite a horrific loss to newly promoted side Parma. There is no doubt that Pulisic will continue to thrive, and potentially lead AC Milan back to the top of Italy.
