John Schroeder Continues To Turn Heads During Summer Ball

2024 season stats with Florida Atlantic: .274/.370/.498 .868 OPS | 10 HR | 14 2B | 50 RBI

Florida Atlantic catcher and corner outfielder John Schroeder is coming off of a great season with the Owls, and since has continued that success into summer ball in 2024. Schroeder has played some of the best competition available among college baseball players, competing in both the MLB Draft League and the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Schroeder’s summer started with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the MLB Draft League. In 25 games and 99 plate appearances, Schroeder hit for a slashline of .296/.354/.455 with an .808 OPS. Schroeder tallied nine extra base hits in those 99 plate appearances, as well as 19 RBI’s.

Schroeder showed versatility in the field as well, playing behind the plate at catcher for ten games while playing at the third base corner for another 11 games. In Cape Cod, Schroeder has played all his games in the field behind the plate for the Bourne Braves.

In eight games so far in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Bourne Braves, Schroeder has turned heads. In 27 plate appearances he’s hit for a slashline of .250/.333/.500 with an OPS of .833. Most notably, Schroeder recorded a multi-home run game hitting two home runs off of College of Charleston pitcher Aidan Hunter, tallying six RBI’s in their 11-5 win Sunday over the Cotuit Kettleers.

After a season hitting .274 with an .868 OPS for Florida Atlantic across 57 games, Schroeder’s stepped up against tough competition, in some of the most notable leagues across the country this summer. After going undrafted in this year’s MLB Draft, Schroeder will look to take what he’s done all season and summer into next spring, to possibly raise his stock for the upcoming 2025 MLB Draft.
