Battery Chargers arrive in the 41 degree cool Lambeau Field for some Football Yo!!!! He is back, who is he you ask? ThePenguinAZ back for a Packers Vs Chargers rundown. For the betting folks the Line: LAC -2.5 and Over/Under: 44.5. This was the game rookie Jayden Reed shined. Is this the new Packers QB/Receiver combo Love and Reed? Where is C. Watson some might ask? Attendance was 77,432 out of a possible 81,041
Chargers would prefer the ball after the first half, here comes K. Nixon for a 39 yard kickoff return. Not only one but two flag flies offensive holding and unsportsmanlike conduct both on D. Leavitt. Is this another flag happy game for the Packers? J. Love would throw early with Doubs making the catches. El Sombrero Jones would get a touch along with Aj Dillon.
Jayden Reed would start his day with a catch as well. Pack would go for it on 4th and 2, not convert turnover on downs. An injury to J. Bosa from the Chargers would also happen on this opening drive and he would not return. Seen on the cart in tears heading to the locker room with a foot injury. 7 plays, 41 yards and 3:57 of the clock.
Here comes Herbert, Ekelar and Allen on the Chargers offense onto the field for their first drive. Not much happened on this drive, maybe it was a bit too chilly yet for the Chargers. A flag would fly this time on the Chargers T. Pipkins for offensive holding. LA would also go for it on 4th and 4 but fail for another turnover on downs. 6 yards on 4 plays and 1:27 off the time.
The second drive for the Pack would be the shortest of the day only 3 yards on 3 plays and `1:36 off the ticker. Punt time by D. Whelan of 40 yards. Back come the LA Chargers with Herbert spreading the ball to his main targets moving the ball. No flags and the Chargers are up 3-0 on a C. Dicker FG of 25 yards. Would this be the longest drive of the Chargers going for 12 plays, 6:38 off the clock and 79 yards.
Third drive action for both teams would result in a touchdown making the score 10-7 Chargers. Packers on 6 plays for 69 yards and 1:29 off the clock. Jayden Reed the hot receiver making a 32 yard motion sweep for the TD. The Love and Reed combo is real. Chargers would go 2:37 off the clock on 6 plays of 75 yards. Herbert read the smart route to S. Smartt on a 51 yard deep pass for a TD.
FOUR drive action Packers A. Carlson misses a 52 yr field goal on a the drive going for 5 mins on 10 plays for 49 yards. LA would go for 3 plays, 5 yards taking 1:25 off the clock and punt. Drive at 5 Packers score a field goal on 16 plays, 71 yards and 5:44 off the clock. It would be the last score of the first half. Chargers return man D. Davis runs for 21 yards ending the first half on a J. Herbert kneel. Tied up at 10-10.
2nd half action is here. LA received the kickoff for 20 yards. Herbert would distribute the rock on 71 yards, 4:16 and10 plays. A field goal by C. Dicker again makes the game 13-10 Chargers. Teams would swap punts on a combined 13 plays, 35 yards and taking 8 mins 19 seconds. But here comes Love and the Packers offense with a TOUCHDOWN.
Love throwing to rookies D. Wicks, Tucker Kraft not Robert Kraft call TD catch was reversed, but the quiet #9 C. Watson catches the 11 yard pass for a TD. The extra point would be missed by Carlson making the score 13-16 and The Pack regaining the lead.
Herbert would throw a dime to K. Allen for 38 yards. A fumble by Ekelar at the GB 3 would take away their chance for a score. Kenny Clark would cause the fumble with Rashan Gary recovering. The Packers would take the fumble and punt it back to LA. This time the Chargers with Herbert and Allen connected for a touchdown. The drive went for 11 plays, 63 yards and 5:36 of the tick tick ticker. 20-16 Chargers back up. But wait The Pack go for a touchdown as well of 75 yards, 2:51 on a 6 play drive.
There was a flag on this drive by Chargers A. Samuel for defensive pass interference. The rookies D. Wicks and J. Reed having a field day out there but Romeo Doubs would catch the touchdown pass from Love. Packers kicker A. Carlson finally making the extra point. 23-20 The Pack!!!!
Another exchange of punts by both teams get the game past the 2 minute warning. Chargers would have one last drive of 6 plays for 15 and taking 1:08 off the final ticker. Of course a flag would fly giving the Chargers more energy to try for that win. K. Nixon would get the penalty for D.P.I. Another flag on R. Gary for offsides gets the Chargers to their 30.
Herbert would not have the help from Smartt on his final pass of the game. “Turnover On Downs” yells the crowd. Jordan Love comes with 19 seconds left in the game. Kneels and that is it friends and family. The Packers in Lambeau Field get the W Yo!!!!! Its a final Chargers 20, Packers 23.
Jordan’s late TD pass lifts Packers with a victory for the LA Chargers. Love threw for a a career number 322 yards. He went 27 of 40, 2 TDs and became the first Packer to throw for more than 300 yards since #12 Aaron Rodgers 341 yard day against Da Bears. Both teams suffered major blows injury wise. Star edge rusher Joey Bosa carted off the field with a foot injury and my favorite player El Sombrero #33 A Jones carted off with a knee injury.
Ouch. Overall a good game on both sides of the ball for The Packers. Love gained more control of his offense and passing. It will be tough moving forward with #33 Jones possibly being out for the season and AJ Dillon being more involved in the backfield. The rookie receiving core of D. Wicks and J. Reed is coming along and perhaps Watson is back as well. Bring on Campbell’s kneecap biting Lions. Happy Thanksgiving Family and Friends.
