Texans vs Bengals Recap: Week Ten
Welcome to week 10 everyone. You’re boy PlayActionReal watched the Texans in Cincinnati. The Bengals have been hot lately and there defense forces turnovers better than most teams in the league.
The Bengals looked great on their first drive. Joe Burrow hit Trenton Irwin for a 32 yard touchdown. The Bengals had a 21 game winning streak when they have the lead going into the 2nd quarter.
The Texans started off their first 2 drives poorly. Even though running back, Devon Singletary had a big 27 gain, CJ Stroud fumbled the snap and the Bengals recover. That play ended the 1st quarter.
After the Bengals punt, CJ Stroud and the Texans looked like they did last week. CJ found Noah Brown (Brown had another huge day) and Tank Dell on a drive that resulted in a touchdown. Tank Dell made a great move to dive across the endzone.
I noticed the Texans defense had a decent day. They forced back to back interceptions. Sheldon Rankings had 3 sacks and they forced 5 straight Bengal punts.
Right before the half, the Texans drove down the field for a 45 yard field goal from new Texans kicker, Matt Ammendola. 10-7 Halftime.
Houston got the ball to start the 2nd half and wasted no time to score a field goal. After Burrow was sacked on 3rd down, the Texans trusted Singletary with ball for a touchdown to make it 20-7 in the 3rd quarter. Singletary had a career day with 150 yards and a score.
Joe Burrow and the Bengals were not done yet. Burrow throws a strike to JaMarr Chase for a huge 64 yard touchdown. That ended the 3 quarter 20-17.
The Texans answered with an exiting drive. Noah Brown and Singletary helped CJ Stroud get down the field. On first and goal, the Bengals left the field open up the middle for an easy walk in touchdown for CJ Stroud. CJ does the O – H sign as the Texans go back up by ten.
The next thing I know Joe Burrow threw 2 picks on back to back drives.
After an interception of their own the Bengals scored with a Joe Mixon 1 yard touchdown run. The Bengals almost took it to the house on CJ Stroud’s 2nd pick of the year. Now it’s 27-23 late in the 4th. The Bengals have the ball back after a Texans punt and tie the game with a 31 yard field goal. I’m scared as a Texans fan.
Then I remembered last week with no time outs CJ drove down the field. Stroud didn’t disappoint. With 1:33 left, CJ found Noah Brown for a 22 yard catch that set up the second year kicker for a 38 yard field goal to win it on the road 30-27!
This team had me on the edge of my seat. It had been 17 consecutive games without a 100 yard rusher and Singletary proved he’s the man. The defense has stepped it up and CJ Stroud put this team on his back again.
