The LA Galaxy will look to stretch their unbeaten streak to six games when they play host to FC Dallas on Wednesday in a clash between the Western Conference rivals in Carson, Calif.
The Galaxy (6-2-7, 25 points), third in the Western Conference, have not lost since a 2-0 defeat in Austin on April 27.
LA enters Wednesday’s match following a 2-1 win over Houston on Saturday — its first win in six matches. With the victory, the Galaxy have not lost at home this season (3-0-3).
“I thought it was a huge three points. I feel like we’ve been on the road a lot. We’re starting a stretch (of matches) at home — you want to take the first one,” said Galaxy coach Greg Vanney. “No matter how you do it, you want to take it.
“I think that settles the group in a little bit going into Wednesday; it’s another busy week, so really important (win).”
Riqui Puig, who scored the winning goal against the Dynamo, has five goal contributions (two goals, three assists) in the club’s six home matches.
FC Dallas enter the midweek match following a 3-3 draw against Western Conference-leading Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
Dallas (3-6-4, 13 points) held a 3-2 lead into stoppage time before squandering two points to RSL. Dallas, 12th in the Western Conference, enters the match against LA with points in three straight (1-0-2).
“Games like (against RSL), we did a lot of good things and had the opportunity to beat the top of the West, but we couldn’t,” said Dallas coach Nico Estevez. “It was a very disappointing start, but now we have to recover because we have three away games in a row, and it’s going to be challenging.”
Forward Petar Musa has paced Dallas with five goals through 12 appearances, and Jesus Ferreira has five goal contributions (two goals, three assists) in seven matches.
The two sides meet for a second and final time on July 13 in Dallas.
