Monday 5/13/24 – Parx Race 6
It’s Monday, which means it must be race 6 at Parx in Bensalem, PA, and once again, that is the chase as we have seven fillies and mares (three years old and up) going a mile on the main track. Post time is scheduled for 2:59 pm Eastern time.
Favored in this race is the 6 Catti La Belle (2/1 morning line) favorite and this six-year-old mare comes into this race after being claimed for $7500 last time out and drops to today’s $5000 claiming level. She had a slight bounce last time out but still finished third to a runaway winner on a good track. The track should be fast today, so that should help her. The problem is that she is 0 for 10 lifetime at this distance with two show finishes.
The 5 Classy Miss (5/2 ML) won 9 days ago at Parx going gate to wire going around two turns. She hadn’t gone for the lead in a long time and has done her best running on the lead, though you have to really look back at the program to find those races. A carbon copy of this race may get her to the winner’s circle again today.
The 2 Chloe Rose (3/1 ML) comes in after bouncing last time out having a rare race where she showed nothing. She won at this level two back and should bounce back here and does have a weight advantage here with a seven-pound apprentice riding here. She should be near the pace here and looking to pounce as they turn for home.
The 3 Erin’s Enthusiasm (6/1) looks more of a sure thing to gun for the lead here. She looks like she is going to put up some fast fractions for this claiming level, but I am not sure she can hold on, but she does have a good race, bad race pattern developing over the last five races. So I am guessing this is a good race?
I admit that this is a hard race to handicap because these are a bunch of mares that might have raced too long. But still, someone has to win here, right? I think Chloe Rose will be near the lead waiting to pounce and will win this race passing Erin’s Enthusiasm and Classy Miss in the stretch. Let’s call this 2-6-3-5 and my play is $20 to win on the 2.
