The Miami Marlins placed right-hander Edward Cabrera on the 15-day injured list Wednesday and reinstated left-hander Braxton Garrett from the same list.
Cabrera was removed from Tuesday’s start against the Los Angeles Dodgers after two innings and is dealing with a right shoulder impingement. It’s the same injury that put him on the IL for the first few weeks of the season.
Cabrera, 26, made his delayed season debut April 15 and is 1-2 with a 7.17 ERA through five starts. He has struck out 31 batters and walked 14 in 21 1/3 innings.
In his fourth season, all with Miami, Cabrera is 14-16 with a 4.32 ERA in 48 games (46 starts). He has 252 strikeouts in 219 innings.
Garrett, 26, is expected to make his season debut Sunday with a start against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. He opened the season on the IL with a shoulder injury.
Garrett made four starts at Triple-A Jacksonville on a rehab assignment, going 1-0 with a 3.93 ERA.
He owns a 14-17 record with a 3.87 ERA in 58 games (56 starts) since making his debut with the Marlins in 2020.
