Miami, FL- Tonight was an absolutely beautiful night to watch the great match of soccer. The sunset was gorgeous, the vibes were high and the stars came out to play as Inter-Miami CF hosted RedBulls NY.
In a sloppy first half, Inter-Miami couldn’t get much done offensively. Despite taking solid shots, Inter-Miami couldn’t reach the net. That wasn’t the case for the RedBulls, as Dante Vanzeir scored the lone first half goal in the 29th minute.
In the second half, Inter-Miami came out swinging, as Matias Rojas scored two goals in the first 17 minutes of the half (48 Min., 62 Min.) Inter-Miami’s star, Lionel Messi, was on fire tonight, recording one goal (50 Min.) and five assists. That’s right, Messi was a contributor on EVERY goal scored tonight.
Another headline for Inter-Miami came in way from Luis Suarez. Suarez recorded three goals and an assist. Suarez scored three consecutive goals for Inter-Miami (68 Min., 75 Min., 81 Min.). In his second goal, the veteran showed that he still possessed elite athleticism, as he drove a sideways bicycle kick dead center of the net.
With the game wrapping up at 6-1, the refs added five extra minutes into the match. At the tail end of the garbage time minutes, RedBulls midfielder Emil Forsberg was fouled. Forsberg shoots a penalty kick and drains it, cutting the deficit to 6-2.
Unfortunately for the RedBulls, that wasn’t enough to start a late rally, as the match ended promptly after the whistle blew.
Inter-Miami (7-2-3) emerged victorious in tonights match. Their next game will be on Saturday, May 11, as they travel to Montreal, Canada to face CF Montreal.
