Former Furman standout guard JP Pegues told On3 on Friday that he is transferring to Auburn.
Pegues entered the transfer portal after the 2023-24 season and his suitors included Florida, Oklahoma and South Carolina.
“I chose Auburn because of their conviction and the vivid vision that they had for me,” Pegues said. “I also love how they operate in a family oriented environment which was a big priority for me.
“Lastly, Auburn is a winning program and has one of the best defenses in the country.”
Pegues averaged 18.4 points, 4.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 30 games last season while earning first-team All-Southern Conference honors. He made 83 3-pointers and accumulated 35 steals.
Pegues was the hero in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament when No. 13 seed Furman beat No. 4 Virginia 68-67 for its first March Madness victory since 1974. He knocked down the decisive 3-pointer with 2.4 seconds.
Overall, Pegues averaged 11.4 points, 3.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 95 games (66 starts) with the Paladins.
